Thanks to Catie, this feminist blog division of Slate has joined the ranks of my regularly read material. Some of the authors drive me crazy, but I really like the news stories I find out about here (and not elsewhere).

The Pioneer Woman
As popular as it has become, this site always makes me smile. Definitely not deep, but I really like the writing. When she's talking about different ways you might vary a recipe, she frequently says "Whatever makes your skirt fly up"... I like that.

Smitten Kitchen
This food blog is by far one of my favorites. Not only do I find the recipes and photography beautiful, but the writing is really excellent. I also really like how she talks about wanting to eat her baby because of his cinnamon swirl hair and sausage legs.

David Lebovitz
Paris, food, and wry humor-- what could be better?

Oh Joy
I love this design blog! It features all things visually appealing including fashion and interiors, but also the occasional cupcake or stationary!

Year of Giving
This guy lost his job, so everyday, he takes 10 dollars out of his savings and gives it to someone random then writes about it. When you go up to random people and learn more about them, the results can be really interesting!

Not So Humble Pie
This lady is meticulous in her baking. I could never, ever be so patient, but her results are beautiful!

Review: Ben and Jerry's One Cheesecake Brownie

Jon is an uncle!!!

A bouncing baby girl, 7 pounds and some-odd ounces... born in the wee hours of this morning...

I think her name is Cecily Rosemary Stockham.

I might be wrong on the spelling.

At one point, amidst all the confusion, we thought her name was Sethely, so this is a major improvement.

(Okay, so the picture isn't actually Jon's niece YET, but scientists did some crazy stuff and made a picture of what she's going to look like in 2 years, and that's it.)

Too Long

How sad! This poor blog hasn't been updated in weeks. I know we're all busy, feisty ladies, but we've got to do better.

Last night, I had to spend a lot of time perusing children's book award lists looking for books for a couple of different projects. Because this homework didn't require a ton of focus, I decided to flip on my fancy-dancy television (it really is fancy... I splurged) to see what was on any one of my twenty whole channels.

Imagine my surprise (and utmost joy) to stumble upon the wedding special of who else but... JASON AND MOLLY!

Lordy girls, my overwhelmed little grad student brain was flooded with memories of us, crowded on our dream house couch, scrunched over watching this epic drama unfold.

The wedding was way pretty, except for the fucking tsunami that rolled through while they were saying their vows. I think that was Melissa's wedding gift to the happy couple.

Anyway, things remind my of your beautiful faces (and precious tushies) all the time. Miss you muchly!
